Instructor
Lucy's yoga is strengthening, nurturing and relaxing.
Lucy is a qualified British Wheel of Yoga Instructor with a strong interest in therapeutic yoga.
She has been practising yoga since 1987 and teaching yoga since 2003. She has studied a very structured approach to yoga with B.K.S. Iyengar teachers for many years, and became interested in the therapeutic aspects of yoga, especially for chronic conditions. In her own teaching she weaves in different approaches to yoga into her own style. She teaches stretch and strengthening techniques for the physical body. Sometimes she uses breath and movement co-ordinated together, as well as static poses, leading to an internal focus with the use of the breath. If appropriate for the students, after some time, she introduces depth of internal focus on the chakras and the koshas., and different breathing techniques (pranayama). The Ante-Natal and Post-Natal Yoga Classes are nurturing with a focus on deep relaxation and breath techniques, as well as helping with the physical ailments of pregnancy like heartburn, and lower back pain.
Lucy likes the ancient tradition of teaching yoga on a 1 to 1 basis. Therefore most of her classes take place in her home studio which can accommodate 5 students per class. Students receive a lot of individual attention when needed. She also does 1 to 1 sessions for those with particular problems like chronic illness or injury, often recommending some personal practice. Many students are then able to join a class if they wish.
Lucy has studied Structural Yoga Therapy with Mukunda Stiles, and Mantra and Meditation with Muz Murray (Ramana Baba) in India.
