Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you accept complete beginners?
Yes, we all have to start somewhere. Lucy will direct you to the most suitable class for your requirements and ability.
Q: Do I need to be very flexible?
No! It is a common misconception that yoga is only for fit and flexible people. Yoga helps to bring out the best in the body you have, within its limitations. These limitations often ease with patience & practice.
Q: What happens in a Yoga Class?
Because of her small class sizes, Lucy is able to tailor classes to the needs and abilities of the students.
- We start with breath awareness either seated or lying down.
- We warm up with some stretches, again lying down or seated.
- We often focus on problem areas like stiff hips or shoulders to ease movement and promote flexibility.
- We usually follow this with some standing work. Moving with your breath. followed by some static poses to create strength and stamina.
- We then wind down with some seated poses, spinal twists and forward bends appropriate to your ability.
- Finally we take some time to become comfortable in relaxation, usually lying down, supported by pillows and learning to focus on the rise and fall of the breath.
Q: When is it suitable to start a pregnancy yoga class?
Once you in your fourteenth week it is safe to start yoga. Most people like to come up to about 38 weeks, when it can feel too uncomfortable to drive. Some people like to come up to 40 weeks and beyond – as it can really help you when you are at that 'fed-up with waiting' stage!
